Former captain Graeme Attenborough has re-signed for Doncaster Town ahead of the 2014 season.
The 36-year-old all-rounder left the Town Field club three years ago and played a major role in Haxey winning the Lincolnshire County League Premier Division in 2011 and ECB Lincolnshire Premier League in 2012.
But following Haxey’s surprise relegation back to the County League he has decided to return to Doncaster in the new year.
Attenborough’s experience, and ability to score quick runs, will make him a valuable addition to Alex Gosney’s young squad as they aim to better this year’s fifth place finish in the Yorkshire League.
One player Gosney will have to do without next year is Ashley Knowles. The leg spinner has moved to London for work reasons.
Talented all-rounder James Stuart, meanwhile, will train with Worcestershire over the winter with the aim of securing a staff contract for the new season.
The former Hall Cross School student has previously turned out for Yorkshire and Northamptonshire’s second XIs.
Doncaster have been drawn away to York and District Senior League side Beverley Town in the National Cup.
The tie will be played on Sunday, April 27.
