Fenwick Cricket Club are celebrating four promotions in four years - and are convinced the only way remains up!
The village club have moved from Division Eight of the Pontefract District League to Division Four in quick time after resigning from the Doncaster Alliance League.
And secretary Richard Randall is confident the club can continue on their upward trajectory.
“We can’t stop winning, which is a good habit to get into,” said Richard.
“A lot of the younger lads who play here have come of age over the last few years, and they’ve now become the backbone of the team.
“Were we to reach Division Three things might start getting a bit trickier, but I think we can keep on going and improve as a team every year.”
Fenwick now play their home matches at Bullcroft Sports Club in Skellow but many of the team retain a link with the village.
Last season saw six sets of fathers and sons play for the club, as well as one grandfather and grandson. They also fielded two sets of brothers in law, and various combinations of uncles, nephews and cousins.
The club also fielded a team in the Barnsley Sunday League for the first time last season, with the aim of developing more youngsters.
