Cricket: Doncaster Town set for tough start to 2015 season

Doncaster Town will start their 2015 Yorkshire League campaign at home to reigning champions Yorkshire Academy.

The Headingley youngsters will visit Town Field on Saturday, April 18.

Doncaster’s mouthwaterinng start to the new season continues the following week when they travel to Clifton Lane to face rivals Rotherham Town.

The 2015 season, which has seen Scarborough resign from the league, will almost certainly be the final year of the Yorkshire League in its current format, with clubs in talks about a new structure for club cricket in Yorkshire.

Doncaster, meanwhile, have been drawn at home to Central Yorkshire League side Townville in this year’s ECB National Club Championship. The tie has been scheduled for Sunday, April 26.

The draw for the Yorkshire League Cup has thrown up another derby with Rotherham, to be played at Clifton Lane on Sunday, May 17.

While Alex Gosney’s men have been drawn in Group B of the Yorkshire League T20 Cup, alongside York and Castleford. Those round-robin matches will be played at York on Sunday, June 7.
