Oughtibridge B maintained their position at the top of Division Four after beating Doncaster Town C at Finningley, writes James Beachill.
Oughtibridge batted first and David James (33) and Alex Price (73) added 96 for the second wicket. Adam Broughton scored 58 as Oughtibridge set the target at 224 for seven.
Tom Bradley was Doncaster’s top scorer with 66 in their total of 175. Broughton claimed three for 36 and Joe Mann finished the job with an analysis of five for 28.
Millhouses B 102 for 5 Dearne 101
At Millhouses Park, Dearne batted first against Millhouses B. Paul Williams scored 36 and Connor Turford was 32 not out in their total of 101. Sohail Muntaz took six for 23 for the hosts.
In reply Millhouses needed five wickets and used 18.4 overs in completing the task. Jason Rocket was 27 not out and Luke Stead took three for 42 for Dearne.
Maltby B 127 Bradfield B 247 for 5
At Muglet Lane, Bradfield B batted first against Maltby B. Bradfield’s first four batsmen left with 41 runs between them. Then Shaun Middleton scored 58, Ian Annerson 92 not out and Peter Fidler 40 not out in their total of 247 for five. Jordan Beighton took three for 61.
In reply Josh Bacon (37) and Luke Hicks (47) built a good second wicket partnership but eventually Maltby were all out for 127. Paul Lamkin with five for 25 and James Shephard with four for 20 did the damage for Bradfield.
Mexborough 107 Thorncliffe B 305 for 6
Thorncliffe got back to winning ways against Mexborough at Hampden Road. On a very good track Thorncliffe lost opening bat Ellis Kirby early in the innings. Simon Anson came to the crease and he and captain Carl Wilson(48) put on 111 before Carl Wilson went at 48.Simon Anson started to take the Mexborough bowling apart and ended on 165, including 25 fours and two sixes. Thorncliffe ended the innings on 305 for 6.
Mexborough never looked like reaching the required target after losing 2 wickets early on. Mexborough ended up on 107, Ryan Tingle scoring 57. Dave Pearson took 4 for 27 and Matt Gill 3 for 23 for Thorncliffe.
Rockingham B 149 for 0 Norton Oakes B 145 for 9
A glorious sunny day at Rockingham Community Centre set the scene for stalwart David Baxter’s 200th and final appearance for the club. Baxter, whose fabulous career for the Rock has sadly been brought to premature end under doctor’s orders, led the team in his final appearance. Having won the toss Norton Oakes decided to bat and got off to a flying start reaching 30 without loss in only 6 overs, however 2 quick wickets for Rockingham put the game back in the balance. A partnership of 30 between Luke Sage and Ben Hall, seemed to have steadied the ship for Norton Oakes. When Rockingham finally made the break through, wickets began to fall at regular interval, due to the wily bowling of Rockingham veteran Martyn Hewitt (4-25). The Norton innings closed at 145 for 9.
In reply David Baxter signed off with 52 not out (10 fours) accompanied with Dave Smith’s 69 not out (12 fours and a six) as Rockingham gained their victory without loss of a wicket.
Barnsley C 150 for 2 Collegiate C 147
Collegiate C batted first at Holgate against Barnsley C. Jonathan Walmsley scored 33 and Daniel Turner 30 in their total of 147 all out. Paul Benson took three for 36.
In reply Samuel Adams opened with 31, Nathan Swift was 52 not out and Lewis Pike scored 53 as they won with eight wickets to spare.
