TAE kwon do world champion Sarah Stevenson was forced to undergo surgery on Wednesday to repair an injury which has put her Olympic place in doubt.

The Bentley fighter suffered cruciate ligament damage during a recent training camp in Mexico and underwent a corrective operation earlier this week.

Stevenson is confident she will be fit in time for selection for the Team GB squad for London 2012 and took to Twitter yesterday to provide reassurance over her condition.

She wrote: “I’ll be at London 2012. I’m not worried, I’m more determined. I’ve been through too much to let a knee injury get me down!”

Selectors will choose Britain’s four representatives for the Olympics at the end of May.
