Belles boss delighted
BELLES boss John Buckley has sounded a ringing endorsement of his side's impressive 1-0 win at Birmingham.
But he has told his players not to take Leeds City Vixens lightly this weekend when they aim to repeat last season's knockout performance in the FA Women's Premier League Cup.
Prolific Canadian striker Liz Hansen grabbed the only goal of the game against the well fancied Brummies on Sunday to extend the Belles' unbeaten start to three matches.
Buckley this week described the performance as his team's best for several months.
And he wants more of the same when the girls make the short journey to face Northern Division side Leeds this Sunday.
Buckley said: "I was delighted with the result and with how the girls played at Birmingham.
"That's probably the best I've seen them play for five or six months.
"The standard of football was fantastic.
"We moved the ball around really quickly and we created that many chances we could've won by seven or eight.
"The only disappointing thing is that we only converted one of those opportunities."
Last season Doncaster reached the League Cup final at Scunthorpe's Glanford Park, where they lost 5-0 to Arsenal.
"We've got to make sure we approach the game properly," said Buckley.
"I'll be putting out a very strong team.
"We played Leeds Vixens in pre-season and beat them 4-0 but they're not a bad side.
"It would be nice to go there and keep our unbeaten run going."
