Athletic stars on top
DONCASTER Athletic Club won their second meeting of the season on Saturday to go clear at the top of Division 3EC of the North of England Athletics League.
Despite wet and windy conditions at the Woodburn Stadium in Sheffield, Doncaster racked up an impressive number of wins on the track and field - allowing the club to overtake local rivals Barnsley and Scunthorpe in the standings.
Jamie Brough clocked 11.5 seconds to win the "A" string 100m, while finishing runner up in the 200m (23.9s).
Chris Watts picked up first place in the "B" string 100m and 200m (11.9s & 24.2s), while also combining with Brough, Ashley Appleyard and Ransford Anthony to bring the 4x100m team home in second place in a time of 45.4 seconds.
Appleyard also won the 400m (51.9s), lan Jepson finished first in the 3,000m steeplechase and came second in the 400m hurdles (65.2s), while distance runner Carl Ryde won the "A" 5,000m race in a time of 15 min 56 secs.
Jacob Clarke won the "B" 5,000m race (16 min 38 secs) in his first attempt at the distance, and came second in the 800m (2.06.5min).
Lisa Revitt continued her excellent season by winning the 100m hurdles (16.1s) and finishing third in the 200m (28.8s).
Chloe Bradley, on her senior debut, claimed an excellent third place in the 100m (13.5s) and second in the 400m (60.1s).
Field event stalwart Steve Minnikin weighed in with two impressive first place finishes in the hammer (51.88m) and discus "B" string (30.35m).
Dave Long won the javelin "A" event with his final throw (45.96m), with Darren Askew finishing second in the "B" (36.87m) competition.
Askew and Troy Kennedy respectively won the "A" and "B" strings in the shot putt (11.00m and 10.53m), with Kennedy also winning the "B" string in the pole vault (2.40m).
Lewis Wilson won the "A" pole vault event (3.00m).
Liam Ramsey was second in the "A" long jump (6.04m), while Liam Davies finished runner up in the triple jump (12.01m).
Lisa Revitt added to her success on the track by winning the "A" high jump (1.45m), Cora Troop leapt to victory in the "B" triple jump (9.79m) and Kat Wilson won the "A" pole vault (2.20m).
Theresa Markefke showed her adaptability by finishing third in the "A" long jump (4.45m), second in the "A" triple jump (9.88m) and second in the "B" high jump (1.40m).
