WHEN the Free Press suggested a Scan For Life dress down day we were thinking more jeans and T-shirts.
But staff at Doncaster Chamber of Commerce had other ideas - as Batman, Wonder Woman and Minnie Mouse, among others, joined in last Friday's fund-raising fun.
Shelley Houlbrook, head of membership at the Chamber, based at Balby Carr Bank, said employees needed little encouragement to dress up - rather than down - for our £600,000 scanner appeal.
She said: "In recognition of Doncaster Chamber's support for the Free Press' Scan for Life Appeal all Chamber staff took part in the dress down day in one way or another.
"Some came to work in casual wear and others wore fancy dress outfits supplied by a Chamber member - Alias of Tickhill. "We all had a really good day. Dressing up gives everyone a buzz and there was a bit of banter flying about.
"We're always keen to do our bit for charity and Scan For Life is a very worthwhile cause."
Staff at the Free Press also took part in the day - helping to kick-start this year's Scan For Life fund-raising efforts.
The appeal, launched last July in conjunction with the Doncaster Cancer Detection Trust, aims to raise £600,000 for a new scanner for Doncaster Royal Infirmary.
Doctors say the new state-of-the-art equipment will revolutionise the treatment and detection of cancer across the borough by helping to reduce patient waiting times and producing sharper images.
