THE first-ever Midnight Walk in aid of the Free Press Scanner Appeal was a huge success.
Around 350 people braved the chilly conditions on Friday night to sign up for the walk, collect their lanterns and set off on the sponsored 40-minute trek around the Lakeside.

The event - organised by the Cancer Detection Trust and The Free Press and made possible thanks to the kind assistance of The Keepmoat Stadium and DMBC - is expected to have raise thousands of pounds for the Appeal to buy a state-of-the-art scanner for Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

High-profile walkers included the Civic Mayor Paul Coddington and Doncaster MPs Ed Miliband and Rosie Winterton who both brought along teams of friends and family to complete the event .

Dozens of other walkers arrived in fancy dress and brought their dogs along for the fun event.

See this week's Free Press for a full report.
