MANY people had told us how fantastic the food was at the Fortune Cantonese restaurant in Hatfield.
Situated opposite the very popular Blue Bell pub is what I would describe as the best Cantonese food that I had tasted in many years.
Upon arrival with my cousin Erica we were dealt with by the very attentive staff who showed us to our table. We s
tarted with a mixed combination that included chicken in satay sauce, seaweed and spring rolls.
We then tucked into duck with pancakes - and watching the waiter take the meat off was an art in itself.
We then enjoyed king prawns in sauce, Szechuan chicken, a seafood pot, noodles, rice and a side order of satay sauce. The satay sauce was to die for - it has got to be the best that I have ever tasted. I would have walked to the ends of the earth for this sauce - very tasty and authentic.
The meal was finished off with a lemon sorbet dessert that was very nice and clean on the pallet.
The service at Fortune was fantastic, very attentive and certainly well worth another visit. The food prices were very reasonable and the meal was washed down by some lagers (well I wasn't driving) and it was my birthday. There is also a private dining area available for private functions, however big or small.
