21 DEGREES on a fantastic Wednesday evening, what could be better than sitting in your garden having a BBQ and drinking ice cold lager?
A dining experience at Fratelli's! Having told my wife Emma earlier that we were going out for dinner, we got ourselves ready and dined at the only Italian restaurant in Doncaster we had never visited.

On entering, we were met by owner Guissepe wh
o welcomed us to the restaurant which looked newly decorated and had a very authentic Italian theme throughout - there was even a signed Italy football shirt framed proudly on the wall).

Fratelli's is currently celebrating its forthcoming tenth anniversary in November by rolling back the years and offering a midweek set menu at 1998 prices - or two courses for £6.99 or three courses at £8.50 (a full menu is also available).

For starters I ordered bruschetta romana (homemade toasted bread topped with fresh tomatoes, garlic, extra virgin olive oil, oregano and pesto). This was very tasty and left me wanting more. Emma ordered Funghi Affogati (garlic mushrooms served in a creamy garlic sauce and mozzarella) - much tastier than your average garlic mushroom fayre served in your local pub. For main course, we both ordered Tagliatelli Al Fratelli, fresh green and white tagliatelli pasta, with smoked salmon and this was complimented with a cream and white wine sauce.

This dish just left us wanting more and more, it was absolutely gorgeous.

For desserts we both ordered the homemade tiramisu, the very authentic Italian dessert that you have got to try. I would say that I am a bit of a connoisseur when it comes to tiramisu, and to be honest it was the best tiramisu ever - light in texture, very authentic, very tasty and served with a good dollop of fresh cream.

When I heard that Fratelli's were doing the set meal three course for £8.50 for its anniversary, I thought we were going to get smaller portions - but this just wasn't the case. The whole lot was washed down with three lagers while Emma stuck to tonic water with the bill coming to a very pleasing £26.50.

The service throughout the meal was excellent and our waitress proved to be polite, helpful, attentive and meticulous.

Fratelli's should be very proud of the fantastic food, the excellent service and customer service displayed throughout at what I'd say is Doncaster's finest restaurant. We shall certainly be going back soon.
