A MEXBOROUGH youth group has raised more than £1,000 to treat members to a trio of excursions during October half-term week.

Kidz Du Care has raised around £15,000 for a number of charities in recent years including the Aurora Centre and Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.

It staged a series of fundraisers to treat themselves during the school holidays and collected £1,250.

The money was raised by putting on a dance show in Mexborough High Street, a jumble sale at Highwoods Community Base and a live show on Saturday at Main Street Club. Bolton-on-Dearne man Graham Stringfellow also helped fundraising by completing a sponsored bike ride.

Project leaders will take youngsters on trips to Blackpool, The Pit skate park in Doncaster and Alton Towers.
