Six local bands will be competing in a live sing-off this weekend in the hope of winning one of two slots at this summer’s Conisbrough Music Fest.

The bands will all be performing at any event tomorrow, (March 28), at the Castle Bar, Conisbrough, from 6.45pm.

One of winners will be chosen by a panel of judges, while the fate of the remaining find bands will be decided by the audience.

Over 100 tickets have been sold for the gig so far, and tickets will also be available on the door on the night for £2.

Special guests Automatic Thrill will be playing two sets during the course of the evening, and they will also be on hand to give their verdict on all the bands.

The bands set to battle it out are The Blinders, a three-piece rock band from Doncaster, Numb Youth, a three piece pop/punk band from Doncaster, The Untitled, a two piece band from Doncaster who play covers and original songs, Screwloose, a three-piece grunge/punk/surf/rock band from Mexborough, Niamh Wilkinson, a 16-year-old solo singer and guitarist from Conisbrough, and The Desires, a newly formed three-piece band from Mexborough.

They will be judged by Dave Ferguson, Darren Eastell, Steve Tudberry and Graham Oliver.

Conisbrough Music Fest, which will take place on June 27, has been tipped as the biggest music event Conisbrough has ever seen.

Discounted early bird tickets for the festival will be available at Saturday’s event.

The bands are expected to perform from 6.45pm. Each will have a twenty minute set, with the last band playing at around 10pm.

The judges will then have time to consider their decision before the winners are announced at 11.20pm. Each member of the audience will also have one vote.

Doors open at 6.30pm at the venue, on Chapel Lane.
