YOUNG people from Rawmarsh are preparing for a gruelling challenge tomorrow - climbing the Yorkshire Three Peaks.
A group of young people, staff and volunteers from ACTIVATE, based at The High Street Centre, will tackle the 25-mile trek that includes climbing the summits of Pen-y-ghent (694 metres - 2,276 feet), Whernside (736 metres - 2,415 feet) and Ingleborough (723 metres 2,372 feet) all within a 12 hour period.
Caroline Langston of The High Street Centre said: “we are so proud of these young people. They have been completing practice walks over recent months to build up their stamina and have shown real character as the weather has not always been great. However, this is something they wanted to achieve following previous challenges to Snowden and walking part of Hadrian’s Wall”.
Local company, HEROtsc, have shown their support by donating fleeces to the group.
