Sporting achievement throughout 2014 was top of the agenda when it came to rewarding outstanding young sporting personalities.

The Sports Award, sponsored by seat of learning, Doncaster College, went to young achiever, Charlie Bolwell with Lewis Eccles also honoured as a special recognition recipient.

The award was presented by Doncaster College’s director of Further Education, Pam Wright.

Charlie faced strong opposition for this category and outstanding nominee and current Golf Trust UK Disabled Open Junior Champion, Lewis, was also selected by the judges.

Young swim sensation Charlie was recognised by judges for going that extra mile to achieve her targets in the swimming pool.

After breaking an arm on two separate occasions it offered her the opportunity to take some time off from her busy schedule, to have a rest and to recover, but she didn’t take the easy option.

Charlie battled on through her training in the pursuit of excellence and wore a plastic support on her injured arm throughout her busy schedule.

She was recognised by judges for representing Armthorpe Swimming Club for the past five years and excelling in everything that has been asked of her.
