South Yorkshire firefighters have freed a woman whose fingers became stuck in a tin of olive oil.

The woman was attended to by Maltby firefighters who used metal cutters and pliers to bend back the metal so she could remove her fingers.

She had put her hand into the tin to remove part of a pump which had fallen in.

Watch Manager Adam Bramall, said of the incident: “Rescuing someone from a tin of olive oil is certainly a first for us! It’s just another example of the unusual incidents we come across on a day to day basis.”

The woman, of Hollywell Lane, Braithwell, escaped with only minor cuts.
