POLICE are appealing for information about a road traffic collision on Tuesday at Barnsley, in which a young boy was badly injured.
At around 7.19pm, it is believed an 11-year-old boy from Barnsley was crossing Grange Lane, near the junction at Bank Street when the collision happened.
The car involved was a silver BMW 320, driven by a 23-year-old woman from Barnsley. It is reported that she was travelling along Grange Lane when the child stepped out from the nearside pavement and collided with the vehicle.
The boy suffered serious injuries, a fractured leg and head injury and is currently detained in Barnsley District General Hospital.
The driver of the car was not injured.
Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with information that could assist officers to call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 1024 of the 22 May 2012.
