SANTA and warm sausage rolls proved major attractions at Wombwell Park for scores of youngsters.
A special event run by volunteers from the Friends of Wombwell Park was hugely successful, with over 160 youngsters queueing prior to the event, to see the big man in red and receive a bag of chocolate coins to take home.
The park is a popular venue for community events, despite it being targeted constantly by vandals, who have caused thousands of pounds worth of damage.
Play equipment that was burnt down over the summer was recently replaced, and the ‘friends’ are determined that the park will continue to be used for events, despite the struggle against wanton vandalism and restrictions on Barnsley Council’s budget for remedial work.
The park has seen many improvements over recent years.
