A SCHOOLBOY is thought to be Doncaster’s youngest litter picker – aged just six.

William Smith, from Scawthorpe, regularly helps his grandmother, Sheila Smith, to pick up litter near her home, and was introduced to Peter Davies, the Mayor of Doncaster, after the mayor heard about his efforts.

William said: “It feels very nice to be Doncaster’s youngest litter picker.

“I started picking litter because I thought it was the right thing to do.

“Grandma says - find a bin and put it in.”

Mr Davies said: “William is setting a fine example.”
