A well known former Doncaster restaurant owner has died.
Jack Bate, who was involved with Bate's Restaurant and Patisserie on Hall Gate, was also a coal merchant in Doncaster for many years.
Mr Bate, 90, died on April 20 in hospital surrounded by his family.
The restaurant, which was situated at the top of Hall Gate, was a popular eating out venue for many years, serving up traditional fayre as well as cakes and pastries, before its closure in the 1990s.
An obituary for Mr Bate read: "The dearly loved husband of the late Irene Bate, loving dad of Trudy and David and much loved grandfather of Brett, Chantal, Declan, Tara, Jane and Emma."
It added that Mr Bate was also a great grandfather of Arron, Elliot, Amy, Jessica, Amelia, Flynn and Sebastian.
The funeral will take place on May 6 at Rose Hill Crematorium at 3.20pm.
