RESIDENTS from a retirement home got crafty this week as they knitted covers to sell at their autumn fair - with 96-year-old Joyce Thorpe and 66-year-old Trish Wileman getting the job sewn up.

Preparations were well underway at The Laurels, as crafts activities and other jobs were finished off ready for Saturday’s fair which will boast cake stalls, bric-a-brac sales and a tombola.

Taking on the knitting duties to create cushion and mobile phone covers were young at heart duo Joyce and Trish - both tenants of Anchor’s retirement home development in Thorne Road.

The event will be held from 11am and 1pm, to raise money for St John’s Hospice.
