Wind turbines to be placed at Medge Hall near Crowle by REG Windpower will not encroach on to a World War II war grave, it has been revealed.

Extensive investigation work by Axholme North Coun Trevor Barker has shown the site of the crashed Lancaster bomber from which two bodies were never recovered, to be in a field next to the proposed development site, clear of the turbines.

Coun Barker (right) pinpointed the location after receiving detailed information including crash site co-ordinates from the War Graves Commission. But he is keen to have some sort of memorial to the Australian airmen who died in September 1945, along with others within the North Axholme area.
