A TEAM of volunteers have helped a lifesaving mission by raising £2,000 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

The group of fundraisers from Wadworth have raised the cash by holding jumble sales in the village’s community centre every month.

Helpers Carol Ferguson and her sister Val Quinn invited Dave Townsend from the Air Ambulance down to the latest jumble sale to hand over the cash.

The Air Ambulance service requires £7,200 of donations every day to keep its two helicopters working.

Since the helicopter charity was set up in 2000 and a second chopper introduced in 2007, the air crews have rescued more than 4,300 patients from situations ground paramedics would not normally have been able to reach.

Anyone else who is interested in raising money for the Air Ambulance should call 01422 237900.
