A Doncaster charity marked 50 years of fundraising today today with a garden party in the September sunshine.
The Doncaster branch of Save the Children was set up in 1963, and over the last half a century has raised over £1.7million for vulnerable children in 120 different countriess across the world.
The branch’s three founding members: Barbara Urwin, 86, Frieda Close, 86, and June Broke, 78 all attended the anniversary garden party.
June said: “It’s been a fantastic afternoon, and we’re happy to celebrate with so many fellow volunteers”
Manager of the Doncaster Save the Children shop, Gaynor Harland organised the garden party, which was attended by over 50 volunteers, and said it was a ‘great success’.
