The bank is one of the most imposing structures in the High Street, sitting opposite the Mansion House.

A large section of the street has been fenced off while the scaffolding is erected although the branch remains open to customers.

It was constructed in 1925 and originally opened as the Westminster Bank and was built and designed by renowned architect William Brierly.
