One of Doncaster’s MPs has called on people in the town to protect themselves by having a gas safety check.
And Doncaster Central MP Rosie Winterton is urging residents to make sure they only use reputable engineers.
The MP has recorded the special video message as part of a national campaign, Gas Safety Week, which began on Monday.
It aims to crack down on gas-related accidents by promoting the importance of regularly checking the safety of domestic gas appliances, such as cookers, fires and boilers.
People are also being reminded that badly-fitted or poorly-serviced appliances can cause leaks, fires, explosions and carbon monoxide poisoning.
Rosie said: “I’m supporting Gas Safety Week to encourage people to take care of their homes and their loved ones by using registered engineers to carry out annual safety checks on their appliances.”
