Doncaster’s landmark Mansion House looked like it was taking a step back in time as amateur dramatic enthusiasts donned Victorian costumes to promote its use.

Ray Smithurst, Pam Claybourn, and Barry Calvert, all members of the group Friends of the Doncaster Grand Theatre, were in the costumes to raise public awareness of the building during St Leger Week, and arrived in a classic car dating back to 1934.

After arriving in the Lagonda Car, which parked outside the building, they met with the public and told them about the building, which dates back over 250 years.

It was used for Doncaster Council meetings until earlier this year, when the authority opened its new civic offices at Waterdale, and will now be used for functions.
