The demolition of Doncaster’s abandoned Council House has got underway.
Diggers and workmen have started tearing down the tower block which was made redundant by the opening of the new Civic Offices last year.
The knocking down of the former Coal House paves the way for the next stage of the town’s £300million Civic and Cultural Quarter.
As well as the Council House, the old Civic Theatre and Scarborough House will also be demolished while the architecturally significant central frontage of the nearby Doncaster Girls High School will be retained.
The works are scheduled to be completed in August and will see the sites primed for redevelopment.
