The position of Vice-Chair of Epworth Town Council has become vacant, due to the shock resignation of Coun Jonathan Whittaker.
Mr Whittaker announced his resignation at this month’s meeting of the town council.
Due to other commitments, Mr Whittaker said he had become “less involved” than he would like and felt everyone would benefit from someone taking on the role who has more time to devote to it.
He added: “I am proud of the majority of things the town council has achieved since I was elected to be a representative.” Epworth Town Council is, he said, one of the best run in the area, which is “testament to the hard work of the clerk and councillors.”
But he spoke of his sadness that the situation on Turbary Road is still unresolved and how he “feels” for residents while applauding the efforts of the town council to get improvements done.
Chairman Don Stewart thanked him for his contribution. He said: “It has been so nice to have youth on side, and particularly youth from someone who took on the job of vice-chair,” adding that Mr Whittaker’s work there was a credit to him.
He proffered a “big, big thank you” and members applauded Mr Whittaker before he left the meeting.
