Van blaze causes rush hour delays

A BLAZING prison van caused rush hour traffic problems after overheating on a busy motorway slip road.

The vehicle, which didn’t contain any prisoners at the time, burst into flames on the exit of junction 35 of the A1(M) - the intersection with the M18 - on Wednesday night.

Crews from Doncaster Fire Station were called out to deal with the incident at around 6.20pm which is being treated as accidental.

The fire caused delays on both the A1 and M18 with traffic jams building up with the high security vehicle suffering only minor damage in the incident.
