PASSENGERS are taking full advantage of a low budget airline’s trips across the Mediterranean.

Ryanair has launched the first of its 2012 flights from Robin Hood Airport to Barcelona this week.

Steve Gill, airport director, said low-cost flights were important for the borough’s residents particularly during the tough economic climate.

He said: “It was fantastic to see so many passengers heading out to Barcelona on Ryanair’s first flight of the year from Doncaster.

“We are delighted that Ryanair have brought the airline’s famous low fares back to the Airport for 2012.

“This continues to be a difficult economic climate to work in and we’re focussed on delivering more value for money holiday options for our passengers.”

This service will give passengers access not only to Barcelona but to the popular beach resorts of the Costa Brava including Tossa de Mar, Lloret De Mar and Calella De La Costa.

The Costa Brava is the closest Spanish Mediterranean resort to home shores offering a short haul summer sun option for families and couples.
