THE grieving family of a young dad who died in a car smash have paid tribute to the man they “loved dearly”.

Steven Brown, 26, who was a father to a young son and daughter, suffered multiple injuries and died at the scene when the yellow Fiat Punto he was driving towards Doncaster ended up on its roof.

Paramedics tried in vain to resuscitate Mr Brown, known to his family fondly as ‘Ste’, following the early morning collision at the weekend.

The crash on the A19 in Owston comes just weeks after two teenagers were hurt near the same stretch of road.

The heartbroken family of Mr Brown, from Askern, said in a statement: “Ste lived life to the max and was loved dearly by all his family and friends.

“He leaves behind a young son and daughter, five brothers and he will be missed by everyone who knew him.

“We would appreciate to all be left to grieve in peace at this difficult time.”

The fatal incident happened when the vehicle Mr Brown was in left the carriageway on a sweeping left-hand bend between the junctions with Sutton Road and the B1220 Askern Road.

The Punto then collided with a number of trees before landing upside down.

Firefighters from Adwick were called to the crash which happened at around 2.35am on Sunday.

Two weeks ago a 19-year-old and 15-year-old were seriously hurt near the area when the Suzuki Swift they were travelling in hit a tree.

Last August a 63-year-old woman died following a three vehicle collision along the A19 Doncaster Road towards Askern.

Anyone who witnessed Mr Brown’s collision, or the manner in which the vehicle was being driven beforehand, is being urged to call South Yorkshire Police.

People with information should call 101 and quote incident 188 of November 13.
