doncaster chippie Martyn Bilby will be frying for VIP guests later this week when an Icelandic trawler skipper disembarks to see his catch being cooked and sold to customers.

The captain and owner of the Granbi are visiting Scawsby Fisheries because some of their haddock and cod ends up in Martyn’s deep friers.

“It’s a big achievement. This is the first time the captain and owner have undertaken visits,” he said.

“They want to see the quality and the finished product. The ship has a high standard and they want to see that quality all the way through to how I sell the fish.”

Icelandic fish caught in the North Sea by the Granbi is imported into the UK and sold through Warners Fish Merchants, in Chappell Drive, Doncaster.
