Pair injured as driver fails to stop after crash

A DRIVER failed to stop after being involved in a crash on a Doncaster country road which left two women seriously injured.

The pair, who were travelling in a blue Ford Fiesta, were injured when their vehicle crashed into a tree near Finningley.

The 45-year-old driver swerved to avoid a silver Peugeot which had pulled out of a junction but then lost control of her car, police said.

Firefighters had to free the driver, who suffered serious chest, stomach and back injuries, while an 18-year-old passenger also suffered serious back and stomach injuries.

Both women were taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

The incident happened in Bank End Road, between Blaxton and Westwoodside, around 2.20pm on Wednesday.

Police said the Peugeot failed to stop at the scene and are appealing for any witnesses.
