MORE roadworks have stated in Doncaster with workmen moving on site to improve on of the borough’s motorways.

Bosses at the Highways Agency say the latest scheme, on the M180, is being carried out to improve journeys on the motorway between Doncaster and Scunthorpe.

The £670,000 project, which will include resurfacing and renewing road-markings and studs, will be carried out overnight and require some full overnight carriageway and lane closures. It is expected to be completed by 23 August.

Highways Agency project official Steven Wright said: “This maintenance work will help keep the M180 operating safely and reliably.

“We are carrying the work out overnight when traffic flows are lower to minimise disruption, but some delays are expected and we would advise drivers to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys.”

The work will take place between 8pm and 6am.

It will involve overnight carriageway closures in both directions between junction one and junction three.

Only one carriageway will be closed at a time in order to minimise delays, said a spokesman for the agency.

There will also be some overnight closures on the M180 entry slip roads at junction two and junction three, and various overnight lane closures.

Local diversion routes will be signposted and advanced signing will also be put in place.
