DONCASTER’s rail users were hit by delays yesterday because of problems on the line at the borough’s main railway station.
Trains leaving the station, at Trafford Way, suffered delays between 8.38am and 9.19am because of track circuit faults on the line.
Track circuits are used by controllers to let them know where trains are. They detect the trains by their wheels as they travel over them.
Most of the trains affected were Northern Rail services to London. A Network Rail spokesman apologised for the delays, adding they were fixed as soon as possible.
South Yorkshire was also affected yesterday morning by signal problems due to cables being cut near Treeton.
