one man was taken to hospital following a collision between two cars at Wath Road, Mexborough.
The road has been closed to traffic for hours since the accident, that occurred at around 8am this morning, under the railway bridge close to the Manvers roundabout.
A black Astra car and a red Peugeot 206 were involved and had to be removed, but the road remained closed so that debris and a big petrol spillage could be cleared.
A police spokesman said that the injured man - the driver of the Astra, was not thought to be seriously injured.
Following the collision his car had spun on to the grass verge by the road. The Peugeot was lifted clear of the scene. Its driver and one passenger were uninjured.
The scene of the accident is a notorious blackspot, with a bad bend very close to the railway bridge.
People from Mexborough were forced to walk past the scene of the collision to get to work at Manvers call centres.
