MAJOR delays are taking place along Doncaster’s busiest roads after the town’s traffic lights control system failed.
Several cars have been at a standstill for some time causing traffic chaos in and out of Doncaster.
Motorists have been advised to find alternative routes as engineers try to fix the problem.
Peter Dale, director of regeneration and environment, said: “Unfortunately the main computer which co-ordinates and controls traffic signals on the major routes in and out of Doncaster failed early this afternoon.
“Engineers are currently working on establishing the cause of the failure and to remedy the problem.
“Motorists may find that lights are slow to change and consequently there may be delays around major junctions, especially at peak times.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and will correct the problem as soon as possible.”
