Two people hospitalised in Doncaster crash after driver had 'medical episode' at the wheel

Two people have been taken to hospital following a two-vehicle collision where on driver reportedly had a ‘medical episode’ at the wheel.

Police, fire engines and ambulances were called to Abbey Road in Hatfield this morning at 8.15am after what witnesses describe as a collision between a car and a Land Rover.

South Yorkshire Police has confirmed that the driver of one of the vehicles had a ‘medical episode’ while they were at the wheel and was taken to hospital.

The driver of the other vehicle was also taken to hospital with ‘minor injuries’.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service has said that the person who had the medical episode was trapped in their vehicle and had to be cut free.

The road was cleared by around 10am this morning and traffic is now flowing as normal in the area.

This crash comes after another in Hatfield on Tuesday this week (January 7) on Station Road outside the Ingram Arms pub.
