BELEAGUERED Goldthorpe traders met with Barnsley Council officials in a bid to resolve road issues.
Barnsley Road business owners are livid at ongoing pavement work, that they claim has disrupted their business.
Takings are down, and diggers and wagons prevent deliveries, while shoppers are put off by what one trader labelled a ‘street bombsite’.
Nigel Trickett of the Carpet and Vinyl Centre said: “We got the chance at the meeting to present all our issues, but we still got no finish date for all this upheaval. “We’ve been told that the Council will try to improve the situation so we’re now waiting to hear how they intend to do that.” Meanwhile, Nigel and his fellow traders ask that shoppers continue to visit, despite the road works. The work involves the removal of original pathways and parking bays to replace them with coloured paving slabs. It is part of a larger scheme to improve the centre of Goldthorpe.
