it was an emotional day as friends and family gathered to take part in a charity football tournament in memory of a teenager.

The event that took place at Hatfield Main was held in honour of Nicholas (Nico) Collins who died following a car crash in 2008 just three weeks after his 18th birthday.

Nico’s family and friends organised the event to raise funds for Dunscroft Junior football teams for who Nico played.

As a fitting tribute to the promising footballer players wore shirts with Nico’s name on in the competition.

A raffle and other stalls were also held during the day to raise funds as well as fun activities for all the family.

Nicholas, from Hatfield, died from injuries sustained in the crash in 2008 when the Vauxhall Vectra car he was a front seat passenger in left the road on the A614 near Finningley.

Driver Marc Savage, 20, lost control of the powerful Vauxhall Vectra he had bought the day before.
