The heavy rain which is causing localised flash flooding across South Yorkshire is due to ease off this afternoon.

According to a Met Office forecast, the widespread rain will ease towards the evening.

There will be the odd spot of drizzle overnight but most of the region should experience a dry night.

Flash flooding has hit parts of Sheffield this morning.

Motorists are being warned to take extra care with spray and standing water causing problems, particularly on the M1 and M18 motorways.

Drivers are being advised to allow extra journey time.
