Weather condtions more akin to the US midwest have descended on Doncaster in recent days with gale force winds wreaking havoc across the area - although damage to properties has been relatively minor.

Amateur photographer Kev Pointon captured these pictures just after the winds struck - with one unlucky motorist suffering a cracked windscreen after their car was smashed with flying debris.

Earlier in the day, a funnel cloud was spotted over the Clay Lane area and in Stockport, Greater Manchester, a woman was injured when a tornado toppled chimney pots. A caravan park in Anglesey, North Wales was also hit. A Met Office spokesman said the windy weather was set to continue.
