WHISKY in tea and Baileys in coffee is one Bentley woman’s secret to reaching her 100-year milestone.

Doris Wood toasted her century with a party of friends and family including relatives who had travelled from Australia for the occasion.

She was born just months before the Titanic set sail and family members joked that, 100 years on, not much has changed with cruise ship Costa Concordia sinking in Italy in January.

Doris’ daughter Margaret Smith, 69, said: “We had a fantastic party. The ages ranged from four to 100 and people had travelled from all over to be there.

“She is a very resiliant lady and is still living very independently.”

Grandmother-of-two Doris, who was thrilled to receive a card from the Queen on her February 27 birthday, worked in the kitchens in Kirkby Avenue Primary School in Bentley, and later as a waitress at a Doncaster cafe.
