A TOWN was in for a scary surprise as it was over-run by hundreds of scarecrows for a popular weekend festival.
The second annual Tickhill Scarecrow Festival produced some of the most imaginative and unique creations yet which would have put Worzel Gummidge to shame.
Scores of people took a straw-l to the town to vote on their favourite creations which included Cruella de Ville, Peter Pan and the Wizard of Oz.
There was also a children’s fancy dress and entertainment from sword dancers, the Green Oak Morris Dancers of Tickhill and Edlington-based Thomas Wharton Community College band.
Shops, pubs and churches also got into the spirit for the event organised by community group Tickhill Together.
