Have your say

We all know how much fantastic work goes on in the NHS, but now we need your help to honour the area’s unsung health heroes.

We’re looking for those who consistently go above and beyond the call of duty to care for hospital patients across the borough.

We have once again teamed up with health chiefs to stage the Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Staff Awards.

This year there will be a total of 12 awards up for grabs, with each category designed to recognise just some of the great work that goes on across the trust’s hospitals including Doncaster Royal Infirmary, Mexborough Montagu and Bassetlaw.

And we will also be giving you, our readers, the chance to vote for the night’s biggest prize of Overall Star of the Year.

So whether it’s a nurse who has picked you up when you were feeling at your lowest, or a receptionist who always delivers service with a smile, we want you to nominate those workers who really deserve recognition.

In the category of Most Caring Person , we want to hear about individuals who have shown exceptional kindness and compassion and make a positive impact on patient care.

The judging panel will be looking for specific examples of care, compassion and kindness.

In the Volunteer of the Year category, the award will go to the most committed, dedicated and involved volunteer – someone who provides excellent support to staff, patients and the public.

Free Press editor Phil Bramley said: “These awards are a fantastic way to recognise all the brilliant work that goes on caring for the people in our community.”

To send in your nominations, visit DBH Stars 2016 or call Haroldine Lockwood on 07803 505658.

The deadline for nominations is midnight, July 18.

The winners will be announced at a glittering ceremony on September 15 at the Keepmoat Stadium.
