A school has become one of the first in the area to be powered by solar panels.
Swinton Fitzwilliam Primary School will harness the energy from the sun to help to provide heat and light in classrooms.
The panels were installed as part of a partnership between the Dearne Valley Eco Vision, which promotes environmentally-friendly schemes in the Dearne, and Sheffield Renewables, which installs energy-saving projects across the region.
Dearne MP John Healey (pictured above with students) officially launched the scheme on Friday. He said: “Our schools and children have really got behind what we are trying to do in creating a new, low-carbon future for our area.”
