A SPORTS club has taken the plunge and completed an epic 1.4 million metres challenge raising thousands for charity.

Armthorpe Swimming Club members as young as six-years-old have been diving in for a huge fundraising event to swim the same distance from Land’s End to John O’Groats - a whopping 870 miles.

The 100-strong group took it in turns to complete at least 18.5 miles each - roughly the same distance from Doncaster to Sheffield at the Armthorpe Leisure Centre.

Following the challenge, the group has eclipsed its target of £2,500 with more cash rolling in.

The money goes to Sport Relief.
