‘Sudden death’ at Doncaster prison as man found dead in cell

A man has been found dead in his cell at HMP Doncaster, police have confirmed today.

The 34-year-old was found at 8am on Saturday after officers were called to the prison on Marshgate.

A police spokesman said: “Police have been informed of a sudden death at HMP Doncaster at Marshgate.

“Officers were called to the prison just before 8am on Saturday 6 June where a 34-year-old man was found dead in his cell.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file has been prepared for the coroner.”
