Students pen variety of books for charity quartet

CRAFTY students are celebrating after selling hundreds of books they have made in aid of charity.

Learners from Doncaster College have been dedicating sales to help boost the coffers of four separate charities.

The group, who are level two progression to advanced studies diploma or certificate course, want to make in excess of £750 for the charities Make a Wish, Alzheimer’s Society, Doncaster Royal Infirmary’s Neo Natal Unit and the South Yorkshire Air Ambulance service.

Over 100 students based at the Hub campus in Chappell Drive have penned books of their choice as part of their team-working course module and held stalls to sell to students, lecturers and visitors at the college.

Titles people have been snapping up to help the quartet of good causes include How to Make Christmas Decorations, Cocktails and Canapés, Nursery Rhymes, and Stepping Stones to Uni.

Heather Thaxted, a lecturer on the course said: “The teams have worked really well together and over the course of a week sold hundreds of books.

“They have really enjoyed the experience and have raised a lot of money in the process.”
